Martial Law’s Clandestine

From the interview we had with Mr. Fernando Gonzales it made our group understand more about media do their very best to make the people know the real agenda of the late President that time. We have learned that during Martial Law although some people says it was the ‘Golden Age’ of the Philippines, but for some Filipinos it is not because of how media spread the truth behind the ruling of President Marcos. According to what Mr. Gonzales said, wherein the late President Marcos he is a good and strong leader of the country but as the time goes by he turns into a person who’s greedy in power and it became another story to tell. Martial law happened because Marcos wanted to prolong more his presidencies. When the Martial law starts Filipinos lived in nightmare and fear that they might get a punishment if they do not follow the orders of the late Marcos and the military that time will just arrest a person without a subpoena. Of course, the whole media did not include this things during the time of Marcos because in those times Marcos also suppressed freedoms wherein the democracy in the country is being remove to the people.

There’s no print press or freedom in anything and in that case it turns out that the Marcoses’ also invade truth from the Filipinos because in that times the people will only heard a news how great Marcos was in ruling the country. It seems like the beautiful things that the late President Marcos did are only the information that the citizens heard in newspapers and radios. All the news in that era was just a propaganda to make it looks like appealing to the Filipinos. To make the story short, there were no news against the will of President Marcos. All the victims or the people that has been harmed during that era has no voice even in media industry. By that, some people take that opportunity to spread the truth on what is really happening in our country, how Marcos enslaves Filipinos who persecutes him as their President. Some media practitioners wanted to tell the truth about what is really happening in Martial Law that time and renegades the whole country.

All in all, the whole group learned that even though how the government had a hidden agenda about the era and try to hide all the bad things they have done to the country there are still broadcasters and writers that is loyal to the whole country and wanted to gave accurate information for the good of all the Filipinos. The media industry still do their part as the source of the information that the whole state must know. Moreover, from what the media did here they did a very great job in finding a way to spread true information and a very tough and strong personality to save Filipino in slavery. It made us realize that no matter how the government tries to hide the truth about their dirty secrets about their rulings. The broadcasters, reports and writers cannot bear to see people live in lies and live their whole life in fear.
